Consent Agenda Items:
The Council approved the following items:
- Approval of January 4, 2022 Regular Meeting Minutes
- Approval of February 15, 2022 Public Safety Advisory Council Joint Meeting Minutes
- Acceptance of the February, 2022 paid bills into public record
- Acceptance of cash receipts and disbursements for December, 2021.
- Approval of the Animal Enforcement Services Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA)and Sheltering Agreement for Maricopa County Animal Care and Control for the period of 2023-2028

Current Events:
Vice Mayor Crane announced events happening around Carefree:
- March 12th - Garden Seminar will feature speaker Linda Larson will discuss Remarkable Trees: A Global Journey.
- April 2nd - Wheels and Wings Event at Sky Ranch Airport which is celebrating its 60th Anniversary. This free event features the best vintage, antique and historical cars and planes. Free admission, free parking, free shuttle rides, food, vendors, and a dazzling large RC model plane aerobatics show throughout the day.
- April 23rd - Earth Day Event to be held in the Desert Gardens.
Regular Agenda Items:
Town Administrator, Gary Neiss updated the Council on the Town's Fire Services. Mr. Neiss stated retired Fire Chief John Kraetz is evaluating options and cost for Carefree to become part of the regional Automatic Aid program. Additionally, financial analyst Jim Rounds has begun his evaluation of the Town’s financial capacity to address additional costs associate with joining the regional program. Mr. Neiss also discussed the upcoming fire season. He encouraged residents to be firewise and take the precautions to create defensible space around their homes. Now is the time to begin to eliminate the germinating invasive weeds on your property that add to the fuel loads during the warming, drying weather.
The Sky Ranch Airport Community Relations Committee ensures a positive relationship between the local community and the airport. Earlier this year, Town Council sought applications from the community to apply for this Town appointed position. Three highly qualified applicants applied and presented their background to the council at the March 1 meeting. After discussion, the council unanimously voted to appoint all three applicants to the committee. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Steven S. Hehta M.D., MBA, FACC, Mr. Tom Sanders, and Mr. Dusan "Duke" Vukotic.
Consolidated Municipal Court Judge Tara Parascondola, presented a request to continue participation in the East Valley Regional Veteran's Court. This service provides options for military veterans cited for legal violations to obtain rehabilitative services in tandem with their court proceedings. The Council voted to approve the continued participation in the Veteran's Court.
Town Engineer, Mark Milstone, presented the updated draft of the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The CIP is a planning tool to anticipate and forecast future improvements to the Town’s infrastructure. Such projects include but are not limited to pavement maintenance projects, Town Center improvements, signage improvements, and pedestrian crosswalk improvements. This was the second public presentation to the Council and community regarding the Town’s CIP. The third presentation will be next month to consider the adoption of this Plan. The Council approved Resolution 2022-05 authorizing the Call of Election. The current list of local candidates and voting details are available on the Town's website: 2022 Election | Carefree, AZ - Official Website.
