Current Events:
Vice Mayor Crane celebrated the success of the recent Wheels & Wings Show at Sky Ranch Airport. The successful community event welcomed an estimated 5,000 attendees.
The final Garden Seminar of the season is this Saturday, April 9th at Council Chambers- 33 Easy Street. A $3 donation is recommended.
The Town of Carefree will host their annual Earth Day Celebration at Town Center on Saturday, April 23rd from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Join us for this FREE, family-friendly event.
Regular Agenda Items
Town Clerk, Kandace French Contreras, conducted the drawing of the names of candidates for mayor and Council to determine the order of the listing of names on the August 2, 2022 Primary Election ballot pursuant to A.R.S. § 16-464(c). The results were reported to the county after the council meeting commenced. The current list of local candidates and voting details are available on the Town's website: 2022 Election.
Town Engineer, Mark Milstone, presented the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The CIP is a planning tool to anticipate and forecast future improvements to the Town' infrastructure. This was the third public presentation to the Council and community regarding the Town's CIP at which council accepted the plan into public record. Council voted to approve a Flood Control District Grant (Resolution 2022-07) for design and construction for the East Carefree Drive and East Cave Creek Rd Drainage Project. The Town qualified for $490,000 contribution towards the project which is anticipated be improved next fiscal year.
Council approved the temporary road closure on Elbow Bend Road from Sidewinder Road to Nonchalant Avenue. This plan still allows for business access from May 9, 2022 until May 27, 2022 during the installation of roadway pavement and final sidewalk improvements adjacent to The View Carefree subdivision.
