During the January 6, 2015 town council meeting, Mayor David Schwan presented Councilman Glenn Miller with a plaque containing a check in the amount of zero dollars for his “priceless service to the town of Carefree.”
The mayor also presented Miller with a “Mayor’s Award,” a sundial mounted on a large box resembling an old Victrola, which contained a plaque listing some of Miller’s “many contributions to the town of Carefree.”

Glenn and his wife Michelle moved to Carefree in 2001 after retiring with 24 years as a Chicago Firefighter. He was also a Union Electrician owning and operating WestTown Electric Inc.. Glenn served 6 years in the 12th Special Forces US Army Reserve before his joining the Chicago Fire department. Glenn and Michelle have two sons, Glenn and Michael and 3 beautiful grandchildren.
Glenn has served as a Board of Director for 8 years for the Carefree Shadows HOA. He has volunteered hundreds of hours to the Town of Carefree for responsibilities such as Co-chair for the Town’s Fire Protection Committee, procurement of the town’s new fire engine, assisted the Town, architect and engineers in the design/construction and specifications to build the new fire station, and inspection during the construction of the fire station.
Glenn was reelected to the Carefree Town Council in March 2013 for a fourth term. Glenn served as Vice Mayor to the Carefree Town Council during his second 2 year term, June 2009-May 2011.
