To protect workers during extreme summer heat, the State of Arizona has passed a new law (SB 1182) that temporarily changes construction start times across all cities and towns—including here in Carefree.
What You Need to Know:
🛠️ Effective Dates: May 1 through October 15
🕔 New Permitted Construction Hours (State-Mandated):
Monday – Friday: 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Concrete Pours: May begin as early as 4:00 a.m. on weekdays
🔇 Please Note:
This state law overrides local Town Code (Section 6-2-4), which restricted construction to 6:00 a.m. start times on weekdays.
📞 Noise Complaints:
Residents may notice earlier morning activity due to this change. We appreciate your understanding and patience as contractors adjust to the new legally mandated schedule. For after-hours construction noise concerns, contact Code Enforcement Officer, Reuben Contreras, at codeenforcement@carefree.org.
Thank you for helping us keep workers safe during Arizona’s intense summer heat.
