How to Start a Business in Carefree

Business Licenses

All businesses operating in Carefree—including contractors—are required to obtain an annual business license for each year they conduct business.

Licenses are valid from July 1 through June 30 of the following year. You can apply for a license online, by email, or in person at Town Hall. All applications must include a copy of your Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) license to confirm that Carefree is listed as one of your reporting locations for sales tax collection

Carefree offers a valuable networking and feedback opportunity for brick-and-mortar businesses in the Town Center.

Monthly Merchant Meetings are held during the busy season (October–May), providing a chance to connect with fellow business owners and share input with local officials.

The Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce, established in 1965, serves as a vital advocate and resource for local businesses in the Desert Foothills region, including Carefree, Arizona. With over 350 members from businesses, the Chamber offers a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to foster business growth and community engagement.
