The Town of Carefree is pleased to announce that new asphalt pavement will be applied to streets in the Carefree Rolling Hills and Carefree Shadows neighborhoods this fall.
Schedule Overview
Oct 13–15: Phase 1 Mill
Oct 16–17: Phase 1 Overlay
Oct 20–22: Phase 2 Mill
Oct 23–24: Phase 2 Overlay
Oct 26–Nov 2: No Construction (Halloween)
Nov 3–5: Phase 3 Mill
Nov 6–7: Phase 3 Overlay
This $1.9 million project, funded through the Town’s capital reserve fund, is part of Carefree’s Pavement Preservation Program, which ensures safe, smooth, and reliable streets across the community. The streets in these neighborhoods—originally built between 1963 and 1975—will receive a full “mill and overlay,” replacing the worn asphalt surface with fresh pavement.
What to Expect
Construction is scheduled Oct 13–Nov 14, weather permitting.
Work hours: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Expect temporary lane restrictions, limited driveway access, and rough road surfaces before the new asphalt is applied.
No Parking signs will indicate where vehicles must be moved to avoid towing. Door hangers will provide 48-hour advance notice.
Crews will coordinate with sanitation services to maintain trash pickup.
Please drive slowly, follow posted signs, and avoid fresh asphalt until barricades are removed.
The Town appreciates your patience as we complete these essential roadway improvements.
