Dear Carefree Business Owners,
We have an important update about business licenses: our new online system wasn’t ready in time for the 2025–2026 renewal period. To make things easier for next year—and to get your business into the new system—we invite you to create an account on our new portal HERE and “apply” for your business license online now, even if you already have a 2025–2026 license.
Contractors & Farmers Market Vendors
Out-of-town businesses such as contractors and farmers market vendors only need to submit the application. If you already have an active FY 2025–26 business license, the license fee will be waived.
You’ll receive a new license document with an updated number and be officially entered into the system.
Brick-and-Mortar Businesses
If you have a physical location in Carefree (restaurant, office, spa, etc.), a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) is required.
If you already have a current C of O, you can upload it in the portal and the C of O fee will be waived.
A C of O is only required once, and you will only need a new one if your business moves to a different location within Town.
If you do not have a C of O but already have an approved FY 2025–26 business license, you will have a grace period until June 2026. After that, a C of O will be required in order to receive a business license.
Why this matters: Physical applications will no longer be accepted. Submitting your application online now ensures your business is fully integrated into the new system and will save you time when it comes to renewing your business license in June/July.
If you have questions or need help, please reach out to Reuben Contreras, Code Enforcement Officer via email codeenforcement@carefree.org.
Thank you for taking this important step to help us streamline business licensing in Carefree!
