The Town of Carefree is undertaking an update to its Zoning Ordinance, the guiding document that shapes how development occurs within our community!
This effort includes a thorough assessment of the current ordinance and engagement with residents to ensure the regulations continue to reflect the Town’s changing needs. While the ordinance has seen periodic amendments over the years, this is the first comprehensive revision since its initial adoption in 2004.
The update aims to align the ordinance with the Town of Carefree General Plan, improve usability, protect and enhance the community’s unique aesthetic and natural environment, strengthen clarity and internal consistency, and incorporate transparent, effective public participation practices.
This process also provides an opportunity to modernize the code, improve clarity and usability, and better align zoning regulations with the Town’s long-term vision.
