Lockbox Program

During an emergency, time is of the essence.

The Carefree Fire Department is offering a free lock box program which gives emergency responders fast, secure access to your home—saving precious time, avoiding costly damage, and preserving your property.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • You will provide a spare house key, which will be secured inside a durable lockbox.

  • The lock box is installed on the outside of your home in a spot agreed upon by you and a fire department representative.

  • You will choose a personal 4-digit code, which is securely stored in Rural Metro’s encrypted dispatch system.

BENEFICIAL FOR:

  • Seniors who live alone

  • Individuals with medical conditions

  • Anyone at risk of falls or emergencies

In an emergency, fire personnel can retrieve the code and access your home—saving time and potentially preventing damage from forced entry. This system also allows responders to secure your property if you’re transported for medical care.

There is a suggested donation of $25 that will go directly to the Carefree Fire Department so they can continue offering valuable programs like this to all residents.

DONATION IS NOT REQUIRED TO RECIEVE A LOCKBOX

Optional: Create a Community Connect profile

Homeowners can also set up a secure profile in Community Connect to share helpful information like:

  • Emergency contacts

  • Pets in the home

  • Medical details or mobility issues

  • Digital access codes (garage, gate, alarm)

  • Floor plans and more

All information is encrypted and only accessible by authorized fire personnel. This is just one more way the Carefree Fire Department is helping make emergency response faster, safer, and more informed.
