The Town Council Chambers (33 Easy Street) is now open as in-person voting location. Check out the schedule at carefree.org/page/elections. For those voting by mail-in ballot, don't forget to drop your ballot in the drop box located at Town Hall (8 Sundial Circle). Town Hall will be also open this Saturday and Sunday (July 27 – 28) from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. so you can drop off ballots. ☀️

🌵✨ Plant Spotlight: Carnegiea Gigantea Crest! 🌵✨
Meet the Crested Saguaro, where no two are the same. Each one features a unique crest that can fan out like broccoli, split into forks, or grow arms that fork again or develop a broccoli head. 🥦
They are a true marvel of nature, with only 1 in 200,000 saguaros developing a crest, usually when they are around 60–80 years old. The unique growth occurs when cells divide and grow laterally instead of in a circle, forming crests that typically span 3–5 ft in diameter. The cause of this phenomenon remains a mystery—some believe it's a genetic mutation, while others think it could be due to lightning strikes. 🌩️

Our Carefree Memorial Day Tribute yesterday was absolutely amazing! We had a fantastic turnout of people coming to express their honor and gratitude for our fallen heroes. Huge thanks to the Veterans Heritage Project, Daughters of the American Revolution (Black Mountain Foothills Chapter), our incredible speakers (Canon Steven Dart, Austin Stasik, and Colonel Deborah Lehker), our performers (Olivia Nicosia and Adam Compeau), the Boy Scout & Cub Scout Troops 603, and everyone who took the time to who join us. Your support and attendance made this event truly heart-warming. 🙏❤️

Yesterday, Carefree hosted a heartwarming welcome ceremony at our Veterans Memorial for four distinguished heroes of our nation, the Medal of Honor recipients. 🎖️
Amidst the serene Arizona backdrop, we kicked off the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation's 18th Annual Golf Tournament with utmost respect and gratitude. 🏌️♂️
Bernie Falchook (Left in Pic. 2), a WWII Veteran, led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, embodying the spirit of service and sacrifice. 🙌 Ava from the Jubilate Conservatory of Music delivered a traditional performance of the National Anthem, stirring our souls with patriotic pride. 🎶
In the presence of true valor, we honored Harvey "Barney" Barnum (First in Pic. 1), Brian Thacker (Second in Pic. 1), Robert Martin Patterson (Third in Pic. 1), and Salvatore Giunta (Fourth in Pic. 1) - remarkable individuals who received the Medal of Honor for their extraordinary acts of bravery and sacrifice during the Vietnam War and the War in Afghanistan. 🎖️
The event drew over two dozen Legion Riders, as well as several other veterans and Carefree residents, each paying their respects to these esteemed men. 🏍️
It was an unforgettable gathering, providing a platform for these heroes to share their experiences and shed light on the invaluable work of the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. 🌟
