Flash Flood in Carefree

Weather forecast models for the Desert Southwest are currently projecting a significant increase in moisture, with deep tropical air moving northward into the state. This will interact with a low-pressure system approaching from the west, creating conditions favorable for periods of showers and potentially severe thunderstorms beginning as early as Thursday and continuing through at least Sunday.

Rainfall totals are currently forecasted to range between 1 to 3 inches in the desert foothills region, including Carefree. Localized thunderstorms may produce even higher rainfall amounts in some areas.
